Chapter 15: A life lesson for this chapter is to go for what you want to go for in life. Krakauer’s father was always setting his kids up for what he wanted them to do, and that’s not what Krakauer wanted. What he wanted was to have his own identity. Although your parents should set some discipline in your life, you always want to feel like you have your own identity.
Chapter 18: A life lesson for this chapter is to be always vigilant of anything you may want to pick up or try eating because it could be something poisoness that could lead to a sickness or death. Chris was smart about the wild when it came to eating plants since he got a book on plants. There are many theories as to how Chris died, but the potato seed was the main cause of his death. They think he could’ve picked a bad root from the potato seeds and of missed it, or mold growing on the seeds. Chris was smart about it until he made one mistake with the seeds and that brought him to his death.
Epilogue: A life lesson from this chapter is to live and let go. Chris’s family went to visit where Chris took his journey in Alaska to the Magic Bus and were very happy about it after. There were no tears shed, only happiness. They still think of Chris today, but they let go of what happened and went on with their lives. It can be hard to lose someone close to you, but life can go smoother if you just move on.
